What we offer

Animal-centered environmental consulting

Every consultation starts with the animal's experience. We deliver behavior-informed environmental recommendations designed to reduce unnecessary stressors and support lower-stress experiences — for veterinary practices, grooming salons, boarding facilities, shelters, and pet parents at home.

Who this is for

The question every animal-care facility should be asking

These aren't decorating questions. They're expertise-based questions — the kind that only someone with a behavioral foundation can help you answer.

Veterinary practices

"Does your environment support the Fear Free experience you're trying to provide?"

Grooming salons

"Could your salon be contributing to sensory overload?"

Boarding & daycare

"How can your facility reduce unnecessary stimulation and give animals more opportunities to decompress?"

Training facilities

"Does your training environment help animals learn — or make learning harder?"

Shelters & rescues

"How can you create calmer kennel and adoption environments without a major renovation?"

If any of these questions resonate, that's exactly where a Fear Free Spaces consultation begins.

FAQ

Questions we hear often

Do you work with veterinary practices, grooming salons, and boarding facilities?

Yes — this is a core part of what Fear Free Spaces does. We work with animal-care businesses that already value Fear Free principles and want help translating those principles into their physical environment. We deliver behavior-informed environmental recommendations designed to reduce unnecessary stressors and support lower-stress experiences for the animals in their care.

Is this the same as Fear Free facility certification?

No. Fear Free offers its own certification program for veterinary practices and other facilities. Our consulting service is separate and distinct — we provide behavior-informed environmental recommendations based on applied animal behavior and Fear Free principles, but we do not certify facilities. Christine's Fear Free credentials are her professional qualifications, not a service she delivers to others.

Do you work with pet parents and foster families too?

Absolutely. In addition to animal-care facilities, we work with pet parents at home, foster families, and rescue organizations — applying the same behavior-informed approach to create environments that support lower-stress experiences for every animal.

Do you work with cats as well as dogs?

Yes. Our primary focus is dogs and cats, including multi-species households. Feline behavior is deeply tied to environment, and we bring the same evidence-based approach to assessing and improving spaces for cats.

Are consultations available online?

Yes — all services are available virtually via video call. In-person sessions are available in select areas; contact us to check availability.

Do I need to renovate or buy new furniture?

Rarely. Most behavior-informed environmental recommendations work with what you already have. We focus on identifying the changes that will most effectively reduce unnecessary stressors — many of which are low-cost and immediately actionable.
